Three Fundraising Events

Three Fundraising Events

Posted 25th August 2023

We are thrilled to announce not one, not two, but three fantastic fundraising events to support NHP.

Ultra-Marathon feat by Sam Ankers: September 3rd
Kicking off our fundraising series next week, is an inspiring ultra-marathon run by none other than Sam Ankers, a dedicated staff member at NHP. Sam's determination to make a meaningful impact exemplifies the spirit of our cause.

"I will be running the 34-mile gritstone grind ultra marathon on the 3rd of September and would welcome anything you can spare to act as a catalyst to spur me on. All monies given will be well used to support our young people," says Sam.

Reconomy runs Manchester Half Marathon: October 15th
A team from our valued corporate supporter, Reconomy, are stepping up to the plate with a team participating in the Manchester Half Marathon on October 15th.
We are delighted that our friends and partners at Reconomy are taking up this challenge. By joining forces, NHP and Reconomy can amplify our efforts and create lasting change in the lives of our young people" stated Mark Warr, CEO at NHP.

Conquer the Alton Towers Half Marathon: November 12th

On November 12th, we invite individuals to lace up their running shoes and join us at the Alton Towers Half Marathon. This exciting event promises a memorable experience, and with available charity places, it's your chance to be a part of something bigger.

Join us in raising both funds and awareness for NHP's mission that supports and empowers care leavers. Your support not only contributes to the success of these fundraisers but also directly impacts the lives of young people striving for a brighter future.

Mark your calendars, spread the word, and let's come together to champion the cause of care leavers through these events.

Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards
Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards

In May, we were proud to attend the Frontline Awards to celebrate Coventry City Council’s Pathways service winning the Multi-Agency Partnership of the Year award. Funded by the Rayne Foundation, the Pathways programme brings together a number of organisations, including NHP, Coram Voice and The Rees Foundation, working closely alongside the Throughcare Service, Coventry House Project and Lifelong Links. Together, the partnership supports young people leaving care to develop skills, build positive relationships, and focus on their emotional health and wellbeing. Three cohorts of young people from Coventry have now go through the Pathways Programme. Seeing the partnership recognised nationally was a fantastic moment and a powerful reflection of the impact collaborative working can have in supporting care-experienced young people.

Aspirational Awards Update

In May, the Aspirational Awards panel awarded just over £15,000 to 19 young people across our LHPs. It was inspiring to see such a wide range of ideas, goals and determination reflected in the applications, and a privilege to support more young people as they take their next steps forward. Funding in Round 9 supported training + graduate employment scheme, equipment for a baking business and support for other businesses, sports sessions, music lessons, lifeguard course, and day trips. We have also recently completed a 3 year review of our Aspirational Awards and the impact they’ve had. Over the past 3 years, we’ve awarded over £147,000 to 138 young people (not including figures from our most recent round in May). If you would like to find out more about how to support the Aspirational Awards please get in touch.
