Chester Half Marathon 2024
Posted 11th January 2024
New Year New You? Get fit whilst fundraising in 2024!
In November 2023, our staff, young people and partners took part in Run Alton Towers and raised an amazing £11,000 towards a white good for each of our young people entering their first home.
This year we are inviting our project staff and young people, partners and consultants to put on their running shoes again and take part in the Chester Half Marathon on Sunday 19th May!
Chester Half is one of the UK’s longest established and most highly regarded half marathons. The course boasts a city centre start and finish, with a route that takes in all the city centre sights, picturesque countryside and with closed roads on the day, there will be lots of space for your supporters. Participants will each receive a House Project running top, bespoke finishers medal and goodie bag.
Once again, all the sponsorship monies raised will go towards the provision of white goods for our young people moving into their first home. NHP has been covering this expense but may no longer able to do so due to rising costs.
What a great motivator to get fit for 2024. There are plenty of spaces and time get training. And with the event being in May, we’re certainly expecting the weather to be warmer this time!
We’re delighted to be joined again by our valued corporate supporter, #TeamReconomy, who are already booking places.
"The Alton Towers event was amazing and I enjoyed every moment of it. For my first run with 3 months of training it was brilliant and I would definitely do it again!"
Kieran Wright, Business Administration Apprentice at NHP

Celebrating Success at the Frontline Awards
In May, we were proud to attend the Frontline Awards to celebrate Coventry City Council’s Pathways service winning the Multi-Agency Partnership of the Year award. Funded by the Rayne Foundation, the Pathways programme brings together a number of organisations, including NHP, Coram Voice and The Rees Foundation, working closely alongside the Throughcare Service, Coventry House Project and Lifelong Links. Together, the partnership supports young people leaving care to develop skills, build positive relationships, and focus on their emotional health and wellbeing. Three cohorts of young people from Coventry have now go through the Pathways Programme. Seeing the partnership recognised nationally was a fantastic moment and a powerful reflection of the impact collaborative working can have in supporting care-experienced young people.

In May, the Aspirational Awards panel awarded just over £15,000 to 19 young people across our LHPs. It was inspiring to see such a wide range of ideas, goals and determination reflected in the applications, and a privilege to support more young people as they take their next steps forward. Funding in Round 9 supported training + graduate employment scheme, equipment for a baking business and support for other businesses, sports sessions, music lessons, lifeguard course, and day trips. We have also recently completed a 3 year review of our Aspirational Awards and the impact they’ve had. Over the past 3 years, we’ve awarded over £147,000 to 138 young people (not including figures from our most recent round in May). If you would like to find out more about how to support the Aspirational Awards please get in touch.
